You Don't Need A Red Suit To Stand Out During The Holidays
The holidays are coming, and that means your clients and prospects will be receiving oodles of holiday cards. With all the seasonal mail that will come across their desks, how do you make your greeting stand out? What can you do to increase your chances of being remembered?

Here are a few ideas, any one of which could work for you:

  1. Send New Year’s greeting cards instead. Your clients and prospects won’t expect New Year’s salutations, which should make a memorable impression.

  2. Don’t just send one card, build a whole marketing campaign around the season and send several mailings. You can start your campaign now. Or better yet, use the holiday card as the campaign’s kickoff, and then follow up with subsequent mailings.

  3. Don't send a seasonal card at all. Instead, wait for another holiday like Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, Arbor Day, etc., and send your card then. One word of caution, though. If you think your clients and prospects are expecting a holiday card from you this year, by all means, send it. You can always start your own “other holiday” tradition next year.

Okay, you’re going to send out holiday cards. The most sure-fire way we know to get your cards opened by your intended recipients is to personalize them. The extra effort, not to say writer’s cramp, will leave them with a warm and fuzzy holiday glow.

  1. Hand address the envelopes and hand write your signature inside. Your recipients will appreciate and remember the extra attention.

  2. Use real stamps on the envelopes instead of running them through the bulk rate machine.

Most people only hand address and sign cards for close friends and family. Personalizing the cards in this manner will help you build a stronger rapport with your clients or prospects.

Finally, the holidays are a perfect slow time of the year to use any returned greeting cards to clean up your databaseand give you a fresh and accurate start (mailing list-wise) for the coming year.
